Keepin' Cool in da 'no

Between the neighbor's pool and the water play area at the mall we have been keeping pretty cool here in HOT Fresno! The water play area at the mall has water coming up from the ground and then water shooting out of the rocks! Evie had a blast, Luci wasn't into it at first that is why she is not pictured! Everyone had a good time at Bryan and Deb's pool though!

Happy 1st Bday Evie!

Evie's 1st bday was yesterday, June 14Th and also Flag Day, Grace's baby shower and Nathan's graduation party! We had a full day of parties, but did not forget to celebrate in honor of Evie! With John in Italy, Grandpa Catfish in Mexico slaving away on the fishing boat and having to swim all the way out to the bar in the pool to get a whiskey, Marina leaving for Portugal tomorrow, Cyprian in Italy and my aunt, uncle and Emily in Italy, we decided not to have a big bash for her but to just spoil her for the rest of her life! sounds fair right? We went to Grace's shower and Jean and Casey fetched a candle and we sang Happy Bday to Evie! Thanks girls! Then we came home rested and then walked around the block to Nathan Montenez' HS grad party and then mom-o went out to BR for an ice cream cake! I don't think little Evie will ever know the difference that her daddy, grandpa, Godparents and other family went traveling around her 1st bday! I hope you all have good trips and come home safely!

Baby Shower for Grace and baby Isabella Grace!

My mom, the girls and I went to my dear friend Grace's baby shower on Saturday. She is due with baby girl Isabella Grace Jessen on August 4Th! It was so exciting to see her since this was my first time seeing her pregnant! Grace and I have been friends since the 7Th grade and have been through it all together! Our good friends from high school Jean and Casey and Grace's mom and sister hosted the shower! Great times ladies and great food! Love those lumpias!

Final Track Meet of the Spring!

What a great way to end the spring and one of our last evenings with John before he left for Italy. We headed out to the track and the girls went all out! Mika and Abby ran the relay, then Mika the 800m, both girls did the Javelin, Luci and Mika the Long Jump, the 400m, 50m, 100m! Boy were they tired when they got home. Those meets are seriously the funniest thing to watch. The girls had a blast and came home with many ribbons!

Claire Kreeft Graduates!

Okay, so it doesn't have the same ring as "Donna Martin Graduates", but it's close and they have different stories I guess...Anyway, our favorite graduating neighbor of 2008 is Claire Kreeft! We have been friends and neighbors with the Kreefts since before Mika was born! We moved in the January that Drew turned 4! Time has flown by! We even took Claire to Fresno once! Claire was the valedictorian of St Francis Central Coast Catholic High School and one of John's students. Congrats Claire, we are so proud of you and can't believe you will be in Boston next year and not in La Selva with the rest of us! I will be sure to Fed Ex you a sandwich from Mike's!

The girls hit the track!

Santa Cruz Track Club has been hosting some kids all comers meets this spring. We just found out about them about a month ago and started taking the girls every week! They love it so much! Mika asks everyday if it is a track day. They run the 4x100 relay, 800m, 50m hurdles and dash, javelin, long jump, you name it!
Most of you know that John and I ran track most of our lives and I come from a family history of track runners. So I have been totally playing low key, don't want to push anyone, but Mika wants to run the 800m every week and I secretly LOVE it! It is the cutest thing ever.

I got a text from emmy this afternoon asking if one of the girls wanted to head down town with her and Linda. Mika was in fresno with auntie lisa and i knew luci was up for a nap so Abby got to go. I sent her with her Marini's gift card and she came home with a dog in a purse, some cute sunglasses, a glittery head band and a pedicure! Thanks Emmy and Linda for taking abby out and spoiling her! She had a blast!
